The Great American Paper Chase

Abitibi’s Recycling Division recently held a two-month accumulated paper collection contest called “The Great American Paper Chase.”  Participants were placed into 4 categories: Public Schools, Private Schools, Places of Worship, and All Others.  Each category had a 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winner. 

All winners received a display check for their office and actual checks in the amounts of $500, $300, and $200, respectively.  Many winners have planned a special presentation ceremony to celebrate their recycling efforts.

Six of the twelve winners are from Harford County.  Abitibi Recycling and the Harford County’s Recycling Program Manager, Bob Ernst, sponsored an awards event at the Liriodedron Mansion in Bel Air, MD on Thursday, June 1^st from 11am-1pm.  They recognized the overall recycling achievements of the first place winners in the public, private school, and place of worship categories.

2^nd Place: St. Clare Parish (Baltimore)

3^rd Place: Bethel Church (White Hall)

1^st Place: Girl Scout Troop #750 (Glen Burnie)

2^nd Place: Edgewood Branch Library (Edgewood)

3^rd Place: Whiteford Branch Library (Whiteford)
